Thai oil massage in Cranbourne

Enquire about a Thai oil massage in Cranbourne. Gliding strokes with oil and some pressure work, with style, time and price confirmed by a local therapist.

Thai oil massage combines some of the pressure techniques of traditional Thai massage with longer, gliding strokes using massage oil. It is usually done on a massage table with you lying under a towel or sheet, and only the area being worked on is uncovered. Compared with the traditional style, there is usually less stretching and the pace is slower.

People often choose it when they want to relax, or when they find traditional Thai stretching too strong. It is also a common choice for a first Thai massage.

How it differs from traditional Thai massage

Traditional Thai Thai oil
Clothing Stay fully clothed in loose clothes Undress to your comfort level, covered by a towel
Oil None Massage oil on the skin
Stretching A large part of the session Usually less, depending on the therapist
Surface Mat or table Usually a table

These are general differences. Each therapist works in their own way, so ask how they run an oil massage when they contact you.

Draping and privacy

You should always be covered by a towel or sheet except for the area being massaged. You decide how much clothing to remove, and it is normal to keep underwear on. The therapist should leave the room or look away while you get onto the table and cover yourself. If anything makes you uncomfortable, say so. You can end the session at any time.

This service passes on enquiries for professional, non-sexual massage only.

Oils and allergies

Therapists use a range of oils. Some contain nut oils or added fragrance. Tell the therapist before the appointment if you have a nut allergy, sensitive skin, eczema or a fragrance sensitivity. You can ask what oil they use, or whether an unscented oil is available.

Oil can mark clothing. Wear something you do not mind getting a little oil on, and allow a few minutes after the session before you dress.

Pressure

Oil massage tends to feel gentler than traditional Thai massage, but pressure can still be firm on request. Say what you prefer when you enquire, and tell the therapist during the session if you want it lighter or firmer.

Health information to share first

Oil massage is gentler on the joints than the traditional style, but the therapist still needs to know about pregnancy, recent injuries or operations, clotting problems, heart problems, broken or irritated skin, and any medicines you take. They may adapt the massage. Your GP can advise if you are unsure.

Length and price

Sixty minutes gives time for a full body oil massage at a steady pace. Ninety minutes allows slower work on the back, shoulders and legs. The therapist sets the price and confirms it with you before booking. For health fund rebates, ask the therapist and your fund, as rebates depend on the therapist’s qualifications, association membership and provider registration.

Send an enquiry

Use the enquiry form with your preferred style, length, days and times, suburb and any allergies or health notes. It goes to a therapist nearby, who will be in touch. The enquiry does not book a massage. See the booking checklist for what to decide first, or read about traditional Thai massage if you want to compare.
